New Series! 650,000 Hours

Taking Risks. Giving Back. Seeing the World.
A new digital series debuting in 2016!

The average human life lasts just 650,000 hours—and Ken Budd wants to make the most of every minute. After volunteering around the globe, Ken is on a mission: to help the world’s most passionate, most generous heroes. From simulating a Mars mission in Utah to bottle-feeding monkeys in South Africa, Ken will take on any challenge, even if it forces him way outside his comfort zone. So will he waste his 650,000 hours? Or will he succeed?

About the host

Ken Budd is author of the award-winning memoir The Voluntourist, which share his unforgettable search for meaning as a volunteer in New Orleans, Costa Rica, China, Ecuador, Palestine, and Kenya. Critics have called The Voluntourist “extremely funny,” “deeply moving,” and “like Mother Teresa meets Groucho Marx.” Ken has appeared on shows such as NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning, and has written for The New York Times, National Geographic, Smithsonian, The Washington Post, and many more publications and web sites.

About the series

650,000 Hours will fling Ken from Alaska to Ireland for a series of quirky volunteer adventures. In each episode, Ken will accept a challenge to help on a project—forcing him to learn new skills and attempt tasks that don’t make him…comfortable. Whether working with scientists inside a volcano or running in the Krispy Kreme Challenge—a five-mile race in which runners eat (ugh) a dozen donuts—Ken will introduce viewers to remarkable people and projects around the world.

About the production team

650,000 Hours is produced by Creative Strategies Media, Spark Media, and Buddster, LLC.
