The Voluntourist Assists Student Program

The Earthwatch Institute’s Los Angeles Student Fellowship program will send 100 high school students on research expeditions this summer, and The Voluntourist is offering assistance. Money from the book is helping to pay the program fee for a “rising star” student from Rosie the Riveter Charter High School. This is the first check we’ve written in our pledge to invest my book advance and any royalties in the organizations and places where I volunteered. Earthwatch was my volunteer organization and conducts environmental research around the world.
