New Stories from Ken on Happiness, Purpose, Volunteering, and More

Ken Budd has written a variety of recent articles, including stories for AARP’s Life Reimagined on 10 ways to boost your happiness—from getting a dog (not a cat) to even, yes, hanging out at a neighborhood bar—and five ways that purpose improves your health.

Ken also has written recently for Convene magazine on how volunteer court reporters are helping Vietnam vets to record their battlefield stories, often for the first time. “I think it was cathartic for them,” said one volunteer. “They’d never had a vehicle to tell their story, and keeping everything bottled up for so long was an incredible burden. [One vet] hugged me and said, ‘Thank you, thank you—thank you so much for doing this.’ So it was obviously important to them.”

In a piece for VolunteerForever.org, Ken showed how volunteering abroad as a couple can improve your relationship.

Ken is the host of 650,000 Hours, a new web series debuting in 2017 on travel, giving back, and the real-life heroes who make America great. On May 6, he is hosting a “Beer and Babies” diaper party to benefit the DC Diaper Bank. The event will be held at the DC Brau brewery in Washington, D.C. Click here for event and sponsorship info.
